A monster snowstorm is poised to move across the US this week, starting in the northern Rockies today and will continue to move eastward where record levels of snow could fall; plus, more of today’s weather news and forecast.
Snow across the Northwest and Midwest today
Snow will fall from the Northwest to the upper midwest today, with mixed precipitation across the central US, the Ohio Valley, and into portions of Pennsylvania and New York.
Eastern Washington and Oregon will see snowfall today, where the Cascades could receive over a foot of snow.
Snowfall will come to central and northern Idaho; snowfall is forecast for the entirety of Montana and Wyoming, with heavy snowfall possible in some areas; snowfall will extend into the northern and central portions of Utah and Colorado; most of the Dakotas will see snowfall, as well as western Nebraska.
Mixed precipitation across Midwest, Ohio Valley, and Northeast
A wintry mix is forecasted for a large swath of the Midwest and Ohio Valley including South Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma, Iowa, Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin, Michigan, Ohio, as well as northern Pennsylvania and western New York.
Monster snowstorm tomorrow for Wisconsin, Iowa, and Illinois
As today’s snowstorms move east, on Tuesday, heavy snowfall is forecast for portions of eastern Iowa, southern Wisconsin, and northern Illinois.
Forecasters say it is possible for Chicago to see up to 15 inches of snow.
Tomorrow’s storm will also move into southern Minnesota and most of Wisconsin. Snowstorms can also be expected for large portions of the central US and upper Midwest tomorrow.
Heavy rain and thunderstorms for the South/Southeast today
A large swath of the country will see heavy rain and thunderstorms today expanding from Texas moving east to the Atlantic and north into portions of southern Illinois and Indiana.
The entirety of the following states will see widespread thunderstorms today: Louisiana, Arkansas, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Tennessee, and Kentucky.
Thunderstorms will also rattle through eastern Texas, central and northern Florida, as well as the southern portions of Missouri, Illinois, and Indiana.
Rain for portions of Ohio Valley, Southeast, and Northeast
Rain is predicted for northern Indiana, Ohio, the Virginias, Delaware, southern Pennsylvania, and New Jersey.
