Severe Storms and Flash Flooding Risk on Several Fronts

Thunderstorms spanning half the country will bring the risk of severe weather and flash flooding on several fronts today including the Central US, Ohio Valley, and Northeast; plus, more of today’s weather news and forecast

Widespread thunderstorms

At least half of the US will experience rain and thunderstorms on Thursday including the northern Rockies, central US, Mississippi and Ohio Valleys, Mid-South, Gulf states, most of Florida, mid-Atlantic, and Northeast.

Severe weather fronts

Severe thunderstorms are forecast on several fronts for Thursday. In the central US, a large area of severe weather is forecast over central and west-central Texas, extending into southwestern and central Oklahoma.

In the Northeast, the National Weather Service (NWS) is warning of strong thunderstorms that could bring us heavy rainfall, strong winds, and a potential tornado over portions of northeastern Pennsylvania, Northern New Jersey, southeastern New York, Western Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island, and southern Vermont.

Flash flood warnings

Several areas of the US are under flash flood warnings today.

In the central US, Portions of central and south-central Texas are under a flash flood warning including San Antonio, Austin, and La Grange.

A flash flood warning is also in effect for portions of central, eastern, and northern Oklahoma, southeastern Kansas, southwestern Montana, and northeastern Arkansas.
