As snow will span across nearly the entirety of the northern US today, winter weather advisories have been issued for at least 21 states, 4 states are under blizzard warnings, while to the south severe thunderstorms and heavy rain have put at least 17 states under a flood watch; plus more of today’s weather news and forecast.
Winter weather advisories across the US
The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued winter weather advisories across the US today spanning from Oklahoma and Kansas all the way to Maine.
At least 21 US states are under winter weather advisories.
Blizzard warnings
The NWS has issued blizzard warnings for northeastern North Dakota and northwestern Minnesota, northern and northeastern South Dakota, southeastern South Dakota, southwestern and southern Minnesota and northwestern Iowa.
Gale warning:
The NWS has issued a Gale warning for northern Michigan.
Severe thunderstorms and heavy rain, flood watch in the south, Mississippi, and Ohio Valleys
The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a flash flood watch, as well as flood warnings, across the southern US today spanning from Texas to the Virginias.
A large section of the southern US will experience heavy rain and severe thunderstorms today affecting at least 17 states in the South, Mississippi, and the Ohio Valleys including: Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, Arkansas, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Tennessee, Missouri, Illinois, Kentucky, Indiana, Ohio, West Virginia, and Pennsylvania.
The NWS is forecasting the heaviest rain and flash flood possibilities occurring over northeastern Texas east of Dallas; southern, central and eastern Arkansas; Louisiana, Alabama, Tennessee, and Kentucky; southern Indiana and Ohio; and the western portions of North Carolina, Virginia and West Virginia.
The NWS has forecast the most severe weather over most of Mississippi, northern Alabama, North West Georgia, and middle and eastern Tennessee.
