Supermoon in Scorpio on May 7

On May 7, 2020, the full moon will be in Scorpio at 17 degrees. The power of the full moon is enhanced by the fact that it is a supermoon, the third of 2020, and the last until April 2021.

Native Americans referred to it as the “full flower moon” because of the abundance of blooms and flowers in the month of May. For our purposes of astrology, we call it the “Scorpio full moon” due to its position in the heavens.

Astrologer predictions for Scorpio full moon

One thing that is consistent between the astrologers we surveyed is that the full moon in Scorpio brings renewal or rebirth, as well as endings. Astrologers also foresee loss and grieving, and indeed, this is occurring across the globe amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Astrologers Jamie Miller and Julia Mihas of Pandora Astrology predict “rebirth characterized by loss” with May’s Scorpio full moon. They foresee a time of renewal that is juxtaposed against loss. They advise surrendering “to the grieving process” and allowing yourself to experience it rather than trying to fight it.

Astrologer Tanaaz foresees the orange-colored full moon, so strongly visible in the predawn hours with its radiant amber glow, symbolic of the autumnal coloring we see in fall, a time of endings and harvest. Tanaaz says:

“Just like autumn is a time of retreat and death for Mother Nature, it is also the start of a new beginning,” adding that one should “carry the awareness that with this ending also comes a new beginning.” Rebirth also emerges from endings “giving new life and allowing new growth in the months to come.”

Astrologer Lorelai Kude says the full moon in Scorpio, like its sign is associated with the realms of death and says it “exposes the vast panoply of loss we’ve collectively suffered.”

It reminds us of “the thin line between this life and the next” that we walk on a daily basis.

Astrologer Tamiko Fisher says May’s Scorpio full moon highlights confrontation with one’s adversaries and “may make for an atmosphere where emotional fragility manifests in outward and forceful ways, such as in a striving for dominance.”

Fisher adds that “a key to establishing harmony with others today may be through being able to speak to the underlying turbulent emotions involved.”
