Severe Weather for South, Flood Watch for Mid-South and Southeast

Severe weather will again threaten the South on Wednesday, with flash flooding a possibility for the Midsouth and portions of the southeast, while portions of the Northeast could see heavy rain and light snow in 4 states; plus, today’s weather news and forecast.

Severe weather for the Gulf and South

The South will see another round of severe weather today along the Gulf of Mexico and portions of the southeast.

The National Weather Service is forecasting an area of severe thunderstorms over southeastern Louisiana, southeastern Mississippi, most of Alabama, the Florida Panhandle, the northern half of Georgia, and along the western and southwestern edges of the state.

Flash flood warning for South, mid-South, and Southeast

The National Weather Service is forecasting an area of flash flooding risk for portions of northeastern Alabama, northern Georgia, the eastern half of Tennessee, northwestern South Carolina, western North Carolina, southeastern Kentucky, western Virginia, and eastern West Virginia.

Over 300,000 without power in 3 states from overnight storms

As a strong line of storms extended from the Gulf to the Great Lakes yesterday, over 300,000 people in three states remained without power on Wednesday morning.

Nearly 200,000 were without power in Texas, nearly 100,000 in Louisiana, and over 13,000 in Arkansas. In Texas, at least 32 individual electricity providers were at work attempting to restore power to their particular service area.
